After Louisa died in 1834 in Connecticut he married second Jane Tweedy on 15 Dec 1835 in New York City, New York. Children: Samuel Richards, Arthur, Beatrice, Arthur, Edgar, Edwin, Jessie Gordon. He died on 3 Mar 1888 in San Francisco, California, having lived a long life of 86 years, and was buried in Colma, California.
There are possibly 3 findagrave memorials for this Joseph. Correct burial is yet to be determined. It is possible his name was put next to his first wife's on a gravestone in Connecticut before he died as is sometimes done, and then he was actually buried in San Francisco instead.
