Biography

from his Gravestone Memorial, created by Virginia Weeks Warbington:

Birth: 1740, Westmoreland, Virginia, USA Death: Unknown, Burke, Georgia, USA Burial: Unknown

In the beginning, Benjamin's birth date was estimated, based on his children's. All of his children's birth dates were estimated except for Margaret's, where censuses were used. It is not known their exact order of birth, because they were listed as follows, by gender, in John Franklin Weeks's little book--i.e--"My Great Grand Father's name was Benjamin. His oldest son Charley maried a Miss Upton, his 2nd son James who was my Grand Father maried a Miss Francis Goff. William his 3rd son maried a Miss Wiggins. Elizabeth oldest Daughter maryed Quiller Mathis or Mathews, Bashaby 2nd Daughter maryed William Mathis. Catherine 3rd Daughter maried a McCullar or McColough. Mary 4th Daughter marryed Nathaniel Moseley. Selia 5th Daughter maried Alesc Berryhill, Peggy or Margaret marriyed William Berryhill." [Photocopy in possession of Virginia Weeks Warbington]

Recent research by Mr. Jim Maddox of Colorado Springs, Colorado found him enlisting during the Revolutionary War in Culpeper County, Virginia in 1780, stating that he was then "40 years of age."

In Culpeper Co., VA, Benjamin Weeks paid taxes 1782 - 1787.

Benjamin's grandson, John Weeks, stated in his pension application for War of 1812 service that his own father, James Weeks, Sr., was born in Virginia. (John joined as a substitute for his father.) Benjamin Weeks migrated to Burke County, Georgia before 1795. He took part in the 1805 Land Lottery.
