On 26 Apr 1917, Emil Carl Weisker was born in Sacramento, California [1] to a mother whose maiden name was Bunch. [2]

On 7 Jan 1920 at the time of the 1920 US Census, head of household William C. Weisker (age 36, born in CA) was employed as a Car Builder for a Railroad and living in a home he owned with a mortgage at 4321 H Street in Sacramento, California with his wife Georgie G. Weisker (age 32, born in OR); son Conrad L. Weisker (age 10, born in CA; son George W. Weisker (age 7, born in CA); son Fred K. Weisker (age 4, born in CA); son Emil C. Weisker (age 2, born in CA); and daughter Emily F. Weisker (age 4 months, born in CA). William's father was born in Germany and his mother in Philadelphia; Georgie's father was born in Missouri and her mother in Oregon. [3]

On 10 Apr 1940 at the time of the 1940 US Census, head of household William C. Weisker (age 56, born in CA) was employed as a Carpenter and living in a home he owned valued at $2,000 at 724 44th Street in Sacramento, California with his wife Georgia G. Weisker (age 53, born in OR); son Geo W. Weisker (age 27, born in CA) employed as a Bank Clerk; son Fred K. Weisker (age 24, born in CA) employed as an Apprentice Printing Press Mechanic; son Emil C. Weisker (age 22, born in CA) employed as a Clerk at a Wholesale Grocery Store; daughter Emily F. Weisker (age 20, born in CA); daughter Martha A. Weisker (age 19, born in CA) employed as a Junior Clerk for the State department of Motor Vehicles; son Charles R. Weisker (age 17, born in CA); son Arthur C. Weisker (age 15, born in CA) employed as a Newspaper Carrier; and son Raymond L. Weisker (age 11, born in CA) employed as a Newspaper Carrier. [4]

Death and Legacy

Emil Carl Weisker died on 10 Sep 1989 at 72 years of age in Sacramento, California, USA. Emil was buried at East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento, California, USA. [5] Emil's obituary was published in 1989:

    Funeral services for Emil Carl Weisker, a lifelong Sacramentian and retired pressman for the state Printing Office, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Nauman & Son Chapel, 4041 Freeport Blvd. Entombment will be private. He died of cancer Sunday at his home at age 72. Mr. Weisker worked more than 30 years with the state as a pressman and was a member of the Graphic Communications Union No. 2 and California State Employees Association. He retired in 1977. Mr. Weisker was a graduate of Sacramento High School and had worked as a grocery clerk until serving in the Army during World War II. He was a 50-year member of the First Baptist Church and Odd Fellows Lodge No 87 and was affiliated with the Oroville Eagles Lodge and the Senior Gleaners. In his earlier years, he played in several basketball leagues in the Sacramento area and had been active with East Sacramento Little League when it was first organized in the late 195's. Mr. Weisker is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beth Elsie "Peggy" Weisker of Sacramento; children, Cheryl Weisker-Capasso of Alameda, and Conrad Weisker of Galt; brothers, Conrad of Orovilloe, George of Vacaville, Charles of Carmichael, and Raymond of West Sacramento; sisters, Emily Moore and Martha Webb, both of Sacramento; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by brothers Fred and Arthur Weisker. The family requests that any remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 160586, Sacramento, 95816, or U.C. Davis Regional Burn Center, Tower Five, 23115 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento 95817.
