Research Notes

Location Notes: Present day Licking County, organized Mar.1, 1808, was Fairfield County from Dec. 9, 1800 and before that: partly in Ross Co. from Aug. 20, 1798 and partly in Washington Co. from Jul. 27, 1788 to Dec. 8, 1800[9]

Dan Fleming, a librarian at the Newark Public Library, Newark, OH, transcribed Genealogy of Wells and Holmes Families of Licking Co. Ohio. by Arlie H. Spitler, pages at a time, to the rootsweb list, WELLS-L Archives, beginning . The only copy is held in the Ohio Reference Collection of the library. According to Fleming, "It would be very difficult to get a good photocopy of parts of it. The pages are yellowed, stained, faded, etc. and with very weak type on parts of it."
