Biography

Henry Wentworth, 3rd Baron Wentworth and de jure 8th Baron le Despencer (bef. 1558-1593) was the son of Thomas [Wentworth], 2nd Baron Wentworth and Anne Wentworth. He m. c. 1585 Anne Hopton (b. 1561; mar. (2) 1595 William [Pope], 1st Earl of Downe; bur. 10 May 1625 at Wroxton, co. Oxford), dau. of Sir Owen Hopton, Lieutenant of the Tower of London, by his wife Anne Itchingham, dau. and hrss. of Sir Edward Itchingham.

Admitted to Gray's Inn 1584; a Commissioner for the trial of Mary, Queen of Scots 1586; accompanied the Earl of Leicester to the Netherlands 1587; at Court at the time of the Armada 1588.
