DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jeptha by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jeptha:

When looking at the widely diverse birthplaces of the 18 children attached to Jeptha West's profile and to that of his wife Mary Gentry, i can't help but think that some, or many, of these children donot truly belong to Jeptha and Mary (Gentry) West. For example, the profile that i manage - Lucinda (West) Myers - has no sources to back up her being their daughter. If Jephta West is indeed half-cherokee, and Mary Gentry mostly-cherokee, then how is it that they and their parents bear european given names and surnames? Amongst the descendants of Lucinda West Myers, those who i know have tested - show no indian DNA: hence, my doubt as to whether Lucinda West Myers is their daughter. Granted, after enough generations, with no additional admixture coming into the otherwise european bloodline, the indian DNA would be bred out, due to chromosomal recombination. Still, lack of documentation makes this parent-child relationship suspicious.
