WILL OF JOSEPH WESTBROOK
written: 2 Feb 1830;
proved: 10 June 1833
In the name of God, Amen. I JOSEPH WESTBROOK of Cooper Co., in the State
of Missouri, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory and
understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainity of the
time thereof and being prepared to leave this world when it shall please God
to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last will and
testament in manner and form following; that is to say,
First and principally, I commit my soul unto the hands of Almighty God and
my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix
here in after named, and after my debts and funeral expenses are paid, I
bequeath as follows:
I give and bequeath to POLLY FARIAS my daughter of Cooper County the sum
of - I also give and bequeath unto JOSEPH WESTBROOK, my son of Cooper
County, the sum of . I also give and bequeath unto ELIZABETH WESTBROOK,
my daughter of Cooper County, the sum of ; I also give and bequeath unto
HANNAH WESTBROOK, my daughter, the sum of , I also give and bequeath unto
RICHARD WESTBROOK, my son, the sum of , all of them of the County and
State aforesaid.
I give and devise unto HANNAH WESTBROOK, my wife, my plantation, lands
and tenements, and with it all my personal property, during her natural life,
or her being my widow. In case she, the said HANNAH shall marry, I give
and beqeath unto her the third of all my personal property.
And lastly, I do herby constitute and appoint my dear wife, HANNAH
WESTBROOK, to be sole Executrix of this my last will and testament revoking
and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made, ratifying and
confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament.
In testamony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this
second day of February in the year of our Lord Eigheen Hundred and Thirty.
Signed, sealed, published and declared by JOSEPH WESTBROOK, the above
named testator as for the last will and testament in the presents of us, who
at his request in his presence in the presence of each other have subscribed
our names as witnesses therefore.
