Biography
Hannah Westropp was born about 1727 in Maryfort, County Clare, Ireland. She was the daughter of John Westropp and Jane Roberts.[1][2][3]
She married Harrison Ross-Lewin in 1748 in Ireland.[1][2][3] An indenture and marriage settlement was made on 22 September 1748 and registered on 13 April 1749 at six o'clock in the afternoon.[4]
Harrison and Hannah had six sons and five daughters:[3]
Her husband, Harrison Ross-Lewin, made his will dated 4 November 1775. He died on 20 November 1775 in Dublin, Ireland.[3]
Probate was granted on 4 March 1777.

There is a folktale attached to the death of Harrison Ross-Lewin, with the appearance of a banshee at his death. Hannah, his wife, also had a strange encounter with a raven. Thomas Johnson Westropp, a relative of Harrison's wife Hannah Westropp, recorded the details of this encounter in his book A Folklore Survey of County Clare. [6]
On 7 July 1780, Hannah was mentioned in the will of her father, John Westropp.

Hannah made her will dated 18 May 1791. She died in July 1794. A copy of her will by T Lewin, attorney, was presented in a court case in 1832.[8]
