The James Wheaton, b. 1738 in New York, father of Deborah Wheaton (and others), is not the James Wheaton who was the son of Thomas Wheaton and Sarah Godfrey, and who died in Devon in 1809. That James Wheaton was b. 1735 in Devon England, and lived his whole life in Devon (http://www.wheatonjk.co.uk/Thomas_and_Sarah_GODFREY.htm).
