She arrived per the ship "Layton" on the 18th January 1838, the ship sailed from Bristol Harbour on the 8th September 1837,with Captain Austin with 232 emmigrants, under the superintendence of Dr.Roger R.N.. Cabin passenger Rev. Mr. & Mrs. Rogers.
The ship landed in Sydney Cove after a voyage of 4 months at sea.
Mary’s parents were Jonathan Wheeler & Jane March, who were on board the ship with her brothers Samuel 17, John 11, Jonathan 9, Phillip 6 and sisters Harriet 19. Her sister Rosanna aged 3 years, and brother Daniel age one, died at sea.
