1870 Census: Martha and Samuel (26) Stout are living in the White River Township of Washington County, Arkansas. The record notes that Martha was 24 and born in Arkansas. The couple have 3 children in their home.^[3]

1910 Census: Martha and Samuel (71) Stout have moved to the Reed Township of Washington County, Arkansas. The record shows that Martha was 64, born in Arkansas, the mother of 5 children, and that she had been married to Samuel for 49 years.^[4]
