Biography

Jerusha White Chandler was born about 1805 in Georgia to William White and Mary Simpson.

She married Ambrose Chandler in Franklin County, Georgia on May 3, 1827. [1][2]

Her husband appeared on the 1840 Census for Franklin County, Georgia. In his household were: 1 male under 5 years old , 2 males between 5 and 10 years old, 1 male between 10 and 15 years old, 1 male between 30 and 40 (Ambrose Chandler), 1 female under 5 years old, 1 female between 5 and 10 years old, 1 female between 10 and 15, 1 female between 30 and 40 years old (Jerusha Chandler).[3]

On the 1850 Census, she was listed as a 50 year old female living in Carroll County, Georgia with her husband, Ambrose, and children. Her birthplace was listed as Georgia.[4]

Jerusha White was found on the 1870 Census living in the household of her daughter, Charity Matilda Chandler King, and son-in-law, Thomas Hiram King. Six of her grandchildren were also living in the household. The census indicated that she was born in Georgia. [5]

On the 1880 Census, she was listed as a 76 year old, white female living in Carroll County, Georgia with her daughter, Charity Chandler King, and son-in-law, Thomas Hiram King. Others in the household were her grandchildren: Mary E. King, Joseph B. King, Martin A. King, Hiram B. King, John W. King, James D. King, and Robert S. King. Matilda Brown was also living in the household (relationship unknown). She was widowed and unemployed. According to the census, she and her parents were born in Georgia. [6]

She passed away November 1894 in Waco, Haralson County, Georgia. The location of her grave has not yet been discovered, but it is assumed that she was buried in or near Waco.
