Biography

John White, son of Daniel and Hannah (Hunt) White, was born in Marshfield, Plymouth Colony, 26 April 1675. He was named in his father's 1721 will.[1][2][3]

John "Whit" and Susanna Sherman were wed 18 Feb 1700 in Marshfield. Susanna, daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Doggett) Sherman was born in Marshfield and died there 22 Dec 1766 in her 88th year.[1][3]

John, about 70 years of age, in a deposition 11 Aug 1731, said he owned land in Rochester.[1][4] 27 Sep 1736, John White of Rochester, yeoman, sold part of his homestead to his son John White Jr, also a yeoman of Rochester.[1][5]

John White died in Marshfield, 9 Sep 1753, in his 79th year,[1][3] and was buried in the Marshfield Center Cemetery.[3][6]

The will of John White of Marshfield, yeoman, aged and infirm, was dated 26 Oct 1747 and proved 5 Nov 1753. He mentioned his wife; daughter Hannah White; daughter Sarah Phillips; grandchildren (children of son John deceased) John, Susanna, Hannah, James, and Andrew White; sons Abijah and Jesse White were named executors.[1][7]

An inventory of his personal estate was recorded on 4 February 1754 in Marshfield.[8]

In 1754, an account of his estate was recorded which included his debts.[9]
