Biography

Otto Whittle was born on January 7, 1900 in Iberia to Josephus Whittle and Leatha Lovelll.[1]

Otto registered for the World War I draft on September 12, 1918.[2]

On July 31, 1920, Otto married Sarah Stone in Tuscumbia.[1]

Otto died on December 18, 1987 in Brumley, Missouri.[1]

He is buried in the Gott Cemetery in Ulman, Missouri.[3]


Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser

Son of Joseph and Letha Loveall Whittle. On July 31, 1920 he was married in Tuscumbia to Sarah Ann Stone.

Otto was owner-operator of the Brumley Tavern for the past 14 years. He also had owned and operated Long Branch and Hilltop taverns in the past. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of the Brumley Christian Church.

Surviving is his wife; two sons, Elmer Whittle of Tuscumbia and Bill Whittle of Eldon; three daughters, Vivian Whittle of Iberia and Pearl Wood and Edna Fletcher, both of Tuscumbia; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home in Ieria with the Rev. Jim McGowin officiating. Burial was in Gott Cemetery.
