Biography

John's son William was born illegitimately on 28 February 1805.^[1]

John later married the mother, Phoebe Wilden, on 12 October 1805 at Combs.^[1][2]

John died sometime before 1851 (possibly before 1841).

Research Notes

• John's wife Phoebe was recorded as widowed in the 1851 census; she may have also been a widow at the time of the 1841 census but this information was not recorded.
• No evidence yet found for parents attached - may not be correct.

This profile was originally uploaded via gedcom as 'William Wilden' a spouse of Phoebe Wilden, and son of Robert and Mary Wilden. However, there is no evidence that Phoebe married a William, nor that he (or a John) was born to those parents. (There is evidence, however, that Phoebe is the mother of William Wilden (1805-aft.1871) who the couple was attached to in the original gedcom (gl120368.ged).)

The death year was given as 1838, but the 1838 death registered was for a 41 year old man so could not have married Phoebe in 1805.^[3]

The birth year 1780 seems to be an estimate based on his wife's birth year.

It's possible the original researcher may have misread the census record and mistook Phoebe's son William for her husband.
