Biography

Lowell was born in 1928. He is the son of Rutherford Wilhoit and Bonnie Peddicorn. He passed away in 2013.

Lowell R. Wilhoit, 84, of Dalton, died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born April 22, 1928 in rural Dalton the son of R. B. and Bonnie (Peddicorn) Wilhoit.

Lowell served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, spending most of his time in Germany.

He married Betty Ruth Wahlbrink on May 21, 1954 in Fayette and she survives of the home.

Lowell's greatest enjoyment besides his family was his love for farming, which he did from an early age in his life. His faith was in the teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Holy Bible.

Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Laurinda and Jerry Littleton of Keytesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Galen and Heidi Wilhoit of Ashland; a sister Alma Wahlbrink and husband Wayne of Laclede; a brother Gerald Wilhoit and wife Alma Lou of Kirbyville; four grandchildren, Jerra Alumbaugh, Kendall Littleton, Brady Wilhoit, and Karenna Wilhoit; one step grandson, Brian Littleton; two great-grandchildren, Rhys and Rhylen Almbaugh; and a step-great granddaughter, Bret Littleton; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sharon Wilhoit; two brothers, Kenneth and James Delby Wilhoit, and two sisters Ruth and Eula Wilhoit.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 30, at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in the Dalton Cemetery.
