Johanna was born on August 27, 1844 in the town of Wurchow in Kreis Neustettin of the Pommern Province in Preussen(Prussia) to Michael Wilke and Marie (Neumann) Wilke. She was the first of their 9 children. Johanna was baptized on September 8, 1844.[1]
Family
In 1866, at the age of 22, Johanna married Johann Roeck (1833-1907).
Children:
Bertha (1869-1899): Married Andrew Hawes (1858-1940), 7 children.
On November 11, 1871, at the age of 27, Johanna and her husband, along with 2 children, arrived in New York aboard the S.S. Bremen traveling from Bremen, Germany.[2]
Death
On November 16, 1918, at the age of 74, Johanna passed away in Champion, MN. She is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Nashua, MN.[3][4]

1910 U.S. Census: Age 65, living in Champion, Wilkin, MN with 6 children. She was widowed and working as a farmer.[10]
