Biography

In 1860, he lived in Gulf, Chatham County, North Carolina, United States, with his mother.

He spent nearly his entire life in Chatham County, North Carolina, United States.

He served in the CSA Reserves and Militia in 1864-1865.

The 1870 U.S. Census shows him living in Oakland Township, Chatham County, North Carolina. At that time, he was employed as a railroad worker.

In 1880, he was once more living in Gulf Township, where he was a farmer.

The 1910 U.S. Census says that he was still in Gulf Township, where he was a laborer at odd jobs.

At the time of his 1915 death, his occupation was listed as "mechanic".

Like many others in his family, he was a skilled carpenter. He helped build the R.J. Reynolds plant in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States.

He married twice: first, in about 1867, to Sarah Jane Kelley. His second marriage, on 11 Apr 1908, was to Rachel (last name unk.).

He died as the result of a paralytic stroke. His burial was in the Wilkie Family Cemetery, Goldston, Chatham County, North Carolina, United States.
