Biography

Samuel was a Friend (Quaker)

Samuel T. Wilkinson, b. abt 1810 was the son of Abraham Wilkinson and Mary Twining. Although a birth record has not been found, I believe this to be true. A membership list for the Wrightstown Meeting house shows Abraham, Samuel and Eleazar to be members. Eleazer's middle name is Twining and Samuel's middle name is probably the same. He was named in the will of his father Abraham who died in 1816. Samuel married Julia Simpson per the death certificate of Eleazer. Julia was not a member of the Quaker faith, and Samuel was disiplined for this. He requested to be admitted to Wrightstown meeting in 1842, condemning his action of marriage outside of the Quaker faith, which was accepted.^[1] Samuel and his wife Julia are both buried at Wrightstown Meeting House. Samuel's will in 1867 names both his wife Julia and son Eleazer, as well as other children- John S., Henry, Albert, Susanna and Eleazar.^[2]He is found in 1860 census with wife Julia and children^[3]

Research Needed

An ancestry tree has Julia as the second wife of Samuel. His first wife is named as Caroline Simpson who died abt 1848 (sister of Julia). She was accepted as a member of the Wrightstown Monthly Meeting in 1844, but her husband was not mentioned. I have not found a marriage record for Julia nor a condemnation of marriage out of unity, so she was likely a Quaker.
