DNA Research

The following autosomal DNA triangulation on segment 9:8-24 (chromosome, position) has been identified:

  • descendant of son Lewis (GEDmatch M343009, S. Massey)
  • descendant of son Thomas (GEDmatch A510829)
  • descendant of son William (tested at MyHeritage)
  • descendant of Charles Williams of Jones County, Mississippi (GEDmatch A918945 - note also that S. Massey has at least eighteen matches to descendants of Charles Williams at Ancestry.com)
  • descendant of James Williams of Colleton District, South Carolina, who lived a generation before Thomas via son Abraham Taylor Williams, also of Colleton (GEDmatch A860701)

At this point it is reasonable to theorise that Charles may be a brother or close cousin to Thomas, and James may be an uncle, a close cousin, or a father.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:
