Mr. and Mrs. S. Williams, of Everard Central, have been advised of the death of their son — Private D. E. Williams — from wounds received in France on November 30. He was born at Auburn in 1897. After leaving school he followed agricultural pursuits, and became particularly interested in gardening. Upon the outbreak of war Private Williams was anxious to enlist and after the 1916 harvest be went into camp. He was transferred, after five weeks of training locally, to Egypt, and thence to France. Early August found him in the firing line. On October 2 he joined a signalling unit, and his last letter mentioned his satisfactory progress." [1]
