I wrote a book on this family in 1974, author, Dona (Floyd)(Vance) Kimmons called "The Williams Family History Book", copyrited in Washington, D.C. The contents of this book include personal family biographies which came directly from their own descendants in North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Texas. It also includes birth, death, marriage records, deeds, probated and Civil War records, including letters written to family members during the Civil War, 1863. This book has been placed in libraries in Monticello, Jasper County, Georgia, the Chamber of Commerce, Jasper County, Georgia, the Ft. Worth Library, Ft. Worth, Texas, the Lufkin library, Lufkin, Texas, the Texas State Library, Austin, Texas, and the Clayton Library, Houston, Texas. This book is still available from the author, Dona (Floyd) (Vance) Kimmons.

  • Dona is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, DAR # 0763837, under Elijah Cornwall. There are also DAR records on Luke Williams, b. 1738, Va. BARKSDALE DAR records. Dona is a member of the DAR, Jacob's Well Chapter, Wimberley, Texas.
  • A thorough DNA study was done on this family before 1980 and given to Dona in 1985, the study of the male and female lines of the Williams family and the Morgan family. This study was conducted by REID, WILLIAMS, MORGAN, GREER, SANDIFER, BEARDEN, MCKENZIE, Y. JOHNSTON, HALCOMB, MCGUIRE, CAMERON AND STEWART of all of the WILLIAMS FAMILY going back to Morgan Williams/Cromwall of Cornwall, England, and all of their descendants. It includes James Williams, 1500's, Roger Williams, b. 1700's, founder of Rhode Island, of which Dona's DNA matches, Morgan Williams/Cromwell, the founder of the Williams name.
  • The Williams family married into the Cornwall and Lane families, and Richard Lane, North Carolina and his descendants are in the book "Royal Descent of 600 Immigrants". The Lanes were State Senators of North Carolina, and the current State Courthouse in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the site of the old homeplace of the Lane family.
  • This family belongs to "Americans of Royal Descent", the Colonial Dames, the Dames of the Magna Carta and the DAR.
  • In the book "Royal Descent of 600 Immigrants, Richard Lane, the family has been traced back to King Edward III Plantagenet, King John Plantagenet, Queen Eleanor Plantagenet, Queen of France and England and all of their descendants. They originated in Cornwall, England, Germany, and France.
