Ezekiel was born about 1844 in Pennsylvania.
Private in the all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry regiment, Company I. Enlisted on 26 April 1863 from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was 20 years old, single and working as a laborer when he enlisted. He was missing in action 18 July 1863 at Fort Wagner and he is presumed to have died while a prisoner of war.
