Biography

Note: Dates in FAG Memorial are slightly different

Johan was born in 1746. He was the son of Johan Willard and Magdelena Schlimm. He passed away in 1822.

George marrried Susanna Catherine Appel, 1783, Guilford, NC

moved to Salem, Carolina (now Winston-Salem, NC) where he became a Moravian pioneer and left many descendants, who began to spell their name "Willyard" and other variations.

In the autumn of 1770 Johann George and his brother, Peter, reportedly joined a wagon train, led by George Soelle, en route from Broadbay, Maine, to Wachovia in North Carolina. On 21 July 1771 Johann George signed the Friedland Society Brotherly Agreement forming the Friedland Moravian Church, in southern Forsyth County. [However, the Moravian records seem to indicate that the Broad By settlers all arrived by sea, sailing from Maine to coastal North Carolina, then coming inland at Wilmington.]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Johann by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Johann:
