Marriage records found for Eliza Blankenship list the groom as "Rumsey Willson". On the marriage contract, Brum signs his name, "brums berry" with the berry appearing under the brum. On an additional document, Thomas Wilson consents to his son Rumsey -- Brumsberry is crossed out -- to marry Eliza.[1]
Military Service
At age 51, Brum entered service for the Union in the Kentucky Second Calvary.[2] His age was older than the draft's upper range of 45, so it seems the enlistment was voluntary. Records found so far only show service between autumn 1861 and 1862.
In 1881, Brum's widow, Elizabeth applied for the soldier's pension. The application lists Brum as "Wilson, Brown (Alias)" and that he served in the K Company of the Second Calvary, Kentucky.[3]
