Biography

Uriah M. Wilson married about 1827 Mary Hughes Gillespie, daughter of Simon Gillespie and Elizabeth Simpson. Membership application records of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution show the marriage occurred 28 April 1828 in Kentucky.[1]

Uriah Wilson (age 20-30) resided in Bath County, Kentucky in the 1830 census. [2]

Wilson in Bath Co., KY Tax List: 1826 listed after Nathaniel, as Uriah Jr 1827 listed after Nathaniel as Uriah 1828 not listed 1829 Polly Wilson, widow of Nathaniel is listed with 100 acres on Hinkston Creek, immediately following her name is "Wilson Trust" 35 acres on Hinkston Creek and below this is listed Uriah, Jr. with no other data given 1830 Uriah Jr has 69 acres on Hinkston Creek 1831 not listed 1832 no tax book 1833 listed next to Polly Wilson; Uriah has 69 1/4 acres on Hinkston 1834 same listing as 1833

He died in Bath County, Kentucky in 1838 [3] and was buried in the East Union Cemetery, Nicholas County, Kentucky.

Research Notes

There were three Uriah Wilson's listed as head of households in Bath Co KY 1830. P 200 Uriah (20-30) son of Nathaniel Wilson; p 224 Uriah (age 20-30) married Elizabeth House and listed next door to Alvin House. He was the son of Uriah & Mary Newkirk; on the same page 224, Uriah (age 60-70), wife Mary Newkirk is found living next door to his son Washington Wilson.
