Anna (Windholz) Mermis was a Volga German.

Anna Elisabeth Windholz was baptized on 23 December 1795, Graf, Russia,[1] she died after 1857, Herzog, (Susly) Russia. She is the daughter of Lorenz Windholz (1769-after 1798) and Katharina Elisabetha 'Vogel' Fossel (1771- after 1798). Her siblings were: Johannes Windholz (1794-1835), Andreas Windholz (1797-aft 1857), and Anna Maria Windholz (1805- )[2]

Anna Elisabeth Windholz married Peter Mermis in 1814.

The Windholz family moved from Graf, Russia to Herzog, Russia. They are recorded in the 1834 Herzog, Russia Revised Census. Lorenz Windholz died between 1798 and 1834, Katharine Vogel/Fossel is still alive in 1834. Anna Elisabeth Windholz and Peter Mermis are the parents of four children: Margaretha, Anton, Joseph and Katharine [3]

29 July 1850, Peter Mermis is recorded birth 1792, died 1839, Anna Elisabeth Windholz is a widow, with her adult sons and their families in the household. Anton Mermis is married to Katharine Dinkel, Joseph Mermis is married to Margaret Kuhn. Their daughters are married and in their own households, Margaretha Mermis is married to John Peter Junker and Katharine Mermis is married to Johannes Scheck.[4]

1857, Herzog, (Susly) Russia, household #59, Elisabetha Windholz is 60, she is with her son Anton Mermis age 38 and his wife Katharina Dinkel age 37, and their children.[5]

Anna Elisabeth Windholz died from a fever on 19 September 1865, in Herzog, Susly, Russia.
