Barnabas Wines, Winds, Windes, Wynes
Came from Ipswich to Massachusetts Bay in 1634 (based on admission to freemanship on 6 May 1635).
14 Feb 1601/2 St. Nicholas, Ipswich, Suffolk, son of Charles Wines.
Barnabas died between June 1678, when he recorded a deed, and 10 Dec 1679, when the inventory of his estate was presented at court. Anderson's Great Migration Study Project.
He married Anne Eddy, the daughter of William Eddy of Cranbrook, Kent, England. Their first child was baptized in 1628, so Ann and Barnabas were married before. They had 5 known children.
After coming to New England about 1634, Barnaby Wines was admitted a freeman on 6 May 1635. His first residence was Watertown, Massachusetts, but he later, by 1654, removed to Southold, Long Island.
He was a corporal of the Southold trainband May 31 1654. He held the office of Deputy for Southold to the Connecticut General Court on 12 May 1664. He was a deacon of the church of Southold, by 1674. In June of 1674, he was freed from training, watching and warding. He was at the time an advanced age.
He received "division grant" lands in Watertown, Massachusetts 1636,1637, 1638, 1642, totalling 163 acres.[1]
He also owned land in Southold. The inventory of his estate was 46 pounds 7 shillings and his daughter Prudence was the executrix of his estate.
