Sarah (Winston) Davis was a Virginia colonist.
Sarah was born in 1714 in Hanover County, Virginia, the seventh of ten known children and the third of four daughters of Isaac and Mary Dabney Winston.
In 1730 when she was in her mid-teens, Sarah married Isaac Davis I in Albemarle County, Virginia and bore him nine-eleven known children: five-seven sons and four daughters:
  1. John Davis
  2. Isaac Davis II
  3. John Davis
  4. Robert Davis
  5. William Davis
  6. Elizabeth Davis
  7. Mary Davis
  8. Robert Davis
  9. Susannah (Davis) Dalton
  10. Elizabeth Davis
  11. Isaac Davis III.
On 13 April 1800 when she was in her mid-eighties Sarah died of unknown causes in Albemarle County.
Sarah Winston Davis was a member of another notable Virginia family. While not verified by any single authoritative source, it has been widely written that Sarah Winston Davis was the niece of the eloquent Virginia Patriot, Patrick Henry.
Isaac Davis, Sarah Winston Davis' husband, was one of the early Magistrates of Albemarle County and was one of the gentlemen volunteers who marched to Williamsburg on July 11, 1775, under Lieutenant George Gilmer who said, in a letter to Thomas Jefferson: "Old Isaac Davis marched at the head of his troops, is an indication of the determined and zealous spirit that animates the people".
Isaac Davis was a signer of the "Declaration of Independence" signed by the citizens of Albemarle County, April 21, 1779. He was also a member of the Committee of Safety.

What record or document puts the maiden name of Sarah as WINSTON? The paragraph in this above biography acknowledges no proof remains - William Winston (II) had only 4 sons & no daughters.

Might I suggest that WINSTON be removed from her profile & new research into Sarah Elizabeth's surname be launched.

Isaac Winston and Mary Dabney are not the parents of this Sarah. Their Sarah married first, John Syme and second, John Henry. She was the mother of Patrick Henry.
