Jennie Lou helped work their farm and raised 12 children in her relatively short life. She contracted tuberculosis and died from it, on April 22nd, 1920, in Mangum Hospital. Daughter in Law Lillie Foster Garner told the story that Jennie Lou's husband, Nathan Samuel, brought the youngest kids to the hospital grounds every Sunday to play on the lawn so their mother could watch them from her window. Note that daughter Ruth Garner Akin died from tuberculosis three years earlier, in 1917.
