Biography

George was born in 1854. He is the son of Valentin Wohlhuter and Sarah Gerst. He passed away in 1930. [1]

1860 Census shows him as age 5, living in Lyons, Downers Grove Twp, DuPage Co with his parents Valentine & Salome, brother Valentine, and sisters Salome (Sarah) and Louise. Household also included two uncles, Chretian & Frederick Garst.

1870 Census shows him as age 15 living in Gower, Downers Grove Twp, DuPage Co, IL with parents Valentin & Salome (listed as Sarah), brother Valentin, sisters Louisa & Caroline, and uncle Christian Garst. Last name was mispelled as Woolhutter. He is also listed as a member of the Daniel Garst/Frederica Hoehn household.

1877 Federal Registry shows George as being paid $39.00 as a mail messenger.

1880 Census shows him as age 25 living in Downers Grove, DuPage, IL with wife Leah. Occupation is farmer. Surname listed as Wohlhether.
