Born Bryant Homer Womack in 1931 to George W Womack and Julia Hollifield in Rutherford County, North Carolina. The birth record reads "Homer Bryant" but most other records provide name as "Bryant Homer". (His maternal grandfather was Homer Bryant Hollifield). He never married.
Bryant Homer Womack died of injuries sustained in combat in North Korea. Womack Army Medical Center, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina is named for him. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.
Birth: 1931 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Family moved to Polk County, North Carolina before January 1935 (date of brother George Lester's birth)[1]
Residence 1940: Polk County, North Carolina as son Bryon Womack (9) in household of George Womack (42) with wife Julie Womack (36), daughter Womack (11), son Lasther Womack (5) and son Womack (2).[2]
