In William Miller's biography, it is said that "His maternal grandfather, James Wood, was the founder of Winchester, Virginia. " However, James Woods' papers prove this not to be the case as his daughter Mary is recorded as having a different husband (Matthew Harrison) and dying much too early (1769) to be the mother of children attributed to Mary the wife of Tobias Miller.
Mary Wood was born on September 23, 1742. She married Tobias Miller in 1758. They had 11 children in 24 years. Remarkably in genealogy, all the children are born within a realistic span of time for her birth date.
