Biography

Frederick Metham Wood, was born 7 February 1819 the third son of Thomas Wood and his wife Rebecca (nee Rebecca Walkden)and was baptised 5 March 1819 at St Alfege, Greenwich, Kent[1]


  1. Frederick Walkden Wood, born 3 May 1843 at home at Evelyn Street, Lewisham Road, St Paul's Deptford, then a part of Greenwich and now a part of Greater London;[2]


He is listed as a Grocer on the birth certificate of his eldest son registered 31 May 1843[3]


WOOD Frederick Metham, Elizabeth Jane (wife), Fdk Walkden, child arrived in SA 1849-05-11 aboard Stebonheath from London via Plymouth 49-01-31 [1]


Deaths....
WOOD.— On the 6th August, at his residence, Buxton-street, North Adelaide, after a long and painful illness, Frederick Metham Wood, in his 57th year. A colonist of 27 years. He sleeps in Jesus. [2]

THE Friends of the late Mr. FREDERICK METHAM WOOD, Sen. are informed that his REMAlNS will be removed from his late residence, Buxton-street North Adelaide on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, for the Walkerville Cemetery. [3]
