Martin Covington and Sucky Woodall, daughter of Sampson Woodall, were married 26 December 1793 in Charlotte County, Virginia by Rev. John Weatherford. William Woodall was surety for the marriage bond. [1][2][3]
She was head of household in the 1850 census of Campbell County, Virginia even though her husband Martin was still alive and living with her. This suggests he was ill or in poor health and Susannah was managing things even though it was Martin whose occupation was listed as farmer. Living next door was the household of Elisha Woodall, age 25. One farm away was the household of George Covington, age 55. All of these persons suggest family relationships.[5]
