Biography
Joseph Russell Woods, 82, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2010.
Born in Greensboro, NC, he was the son of the late James Russell and Claudia McCullough Woods.
Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Strandburg Engineering Labs in Greenville. He was a member of the Walden Lodge AFM # 274 and the Scottish Rite of Greenville. Mr. Woods was a longtime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he was active in the Questers Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Craven Woods. He is survived by his loving son, James R. Woods and wife, Patricia J. Phillips of Cleveland, SC; daughter, Betty W. Finley and husband, Mark of Simpsonville; step-daughter, Katie S. Redmon and husband, Bruce of Greer; and his grandchildren, Allen and Alexander Klaes, Andrew, Austin and Evan Finley, Michael, Brady, Walker and Buddy Redmon.
Services were at 2:00pm Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Reverend W. Michael Bruce and the Reverend Carol Allison officiating.
Interment with Masonic Rites followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
