Biography

Julia was born 23 January 1886 to John Monroe Worley and Matilda Katherine (Forgy) Worley, their 5th of 10 children.

She had twin sisters (Mary & Martha) who were born in 1880 - - who died before Julia was born. Her other 2 older siblings were Daniel and Eleanor. She was next, and was followed by John W, James, Ruth, Wheeler and Riley.

Julia was only 16 years old when she married Walter Lee Scott, and he was 20. They had 6 children. After they divorced, she was married to Jim Blakely and then to Ed Leeck for the remainder of their lives. (There is alleged to have been a man named Jim Goodnight in her life after her divorce from Walt Scott. I do not believe they married.)

Julia was known as Mom to the family, and Walter Scott was known as Pop. The story was that she was a grandmother at 35 and felt she was too young to be called Grandma, so she insisted on being called "Mom". The only name I never knew her by was "Mom".

She was an antique dealer, and I inherited my love of antiques from her. I remember helping her dig up glass in her back yard that she had buried to make it turn purple faster. And I remember the smell of her house....it always smelled like coffee, as there was always a pot of coffee on the wood stove.

Julia (Mom) was 83 years and 4 months old at the time of her death.
