William Wright Senior was a Latter Day Saint pioneer.
A brief overview: William was born in 1836, and spent much of his life dedicated to the LDS Church. Summaries of his papers are available in the Church catalogs. [1][2]
William traveled overland in the Seth M. Blair and Edward Stevenson Company in 1855. They left Mormon Grove, Kansas about June 15, and arrived
September 10, 1855 in the Salt Lake Valley. [3] He kept a diary for much of the journey. [4]
Then, his family (parents and siblings) are recorded as traveling overland in Abraham Smoot’s wagon company in 1856; they departed from Mormon’s Grove, Kansas Territory on August 10th, and arrived in Salt Lake City on November 9th. [5]
The couple is recorded on June 14, 1860 in the household of his parents and siblings (see research notes)[7]
He was a missionary to the Sandwich Islands/ Hawaii both before and after he married (1856-1859, and 1865-1866). He served in the second mission alongside his wife, Emma Yearsley. [3][8]
The 1860 census seems to mis-record William’s father as "William" instead of Abraham. But the age is right, as is the name and age of his wife Mary Ann. [7]
