Biography

Sarah was born in 1765. She passed away in 1845.[1] [2]. Her grave is hard to read in the photo but if you invert it in a photo editing program, you can see that it says she was 76 when she died.

There is much confusion about the birth place of Sarah. Some say she was born in England, some say Vermont and some say New Jersey but none show how they came to that conclusion. Since her birth record has not been found, it is impossible to know for certain.

However, DNA evidence points to this family of Wrights being connected to a family of Wrights originally from Flushings, New York and moved to Dutchess County, New York. Unfortunately, the only way to be certain is to find a y-DNA tester but that has not proved successful.

Sarah made a land petition as the daughter of Samuel Wright, deceased, on 17 Apr 1790 in Kingston, Ontario. She was granted 200 acres on 17 Apr 1793. [3]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Sarah by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Sarah:

Do you have a source for her last name? The book Lineages of Canadian Loyalists says Sarah Morton. (though perhaps a previous spouse's surname?)
