Lawrence Perley Wright was born in 1894 in Downey, Los Angeles County, California to Isaac Newton Wright and Eliza Jane Wells. Shortly after Lawrence's birth, Isaac, Eliza and Lawrence moved back to Marion Twp, Bourbon County, Kansas, to own and operate the Wright family farm that had been in their ownership since about 1858. Lawrence married Dessie Hite on 3 Nov 1915. Isaac Newton died in 1918 in a runaway buggy rollover, leaving Lawrence, Dessie and his mother, Eliza, to operate the farm. Lawrence and Dessie had 6 children (Ruth Maxine, Lawrence Russell, William Newton, Donna Madeline, Wilma Jean and Raymond Virgil.
Lawrence and Dessie operated the farm until the late 1960's, raising Jersey milk cattle and chickens, and grain and hay for the consumption of the livestock. In his later years, Lawrence suffered from cardiac disease and later, Parkinson's Disease. In the late 1960's, health issues forced Lawrence to liquidate the dairy herd and farming operation. Lawrence died 24 August 1971 and is buried in the Uniontown Cemetery, Uniontown, Kansas.
