George Wright was old enough to choose his own guardian in 1666, placing his date of birth about 1652.
Whereas George Wright orphan, hath made choice of Edward Gibbs Godfather to the said George to be his guardian. It is ordered that the said orphan . . .. .Cornelius Scully who married the Mother of the said George or when . . . . . . 10 Sept 1666 Isle of Wight County Ct.
Receipt signed with the X mark of William Goodwin sixth day of Sept 1666 acquits Cornelius Scully of any additional liability in a bequest in Thomas Wright's will to his daughter Elizabeth Wright, William's wife. [1]
Found in Isle of Wight Deed Book it was recorded that both Thomas and George Wright acquired land grants of 50 acres in 1683. In Deed Book 1: "Whereas controversies between George Wright and Thomas Wright have arisen over their share of land where they now dwell, have chosen James Benn and John Giles to arbitrate. 25 jan. 1692-93."[2]
George died before 7 Sept 1702 when his widow, Violet, presented his inventory to the court with her new husband, John Driver.[3] They married earlier that year.[4]
