Biography

Vivian Elizabeth Wright was born on 27 May 1920 at 22 Dowse St., Everett, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Keene) Wright.

Her census enumeration in 1930 lists her in the household of her mother Mary at 26 Summer St., Everett, as age 9, attending school. Her sister Trudy and uncle Elliot Ritchie were also living with them in what appears to be a multi-family building with 8 families.

After Mary's death, Vivian was sent to live with Mary's best friend, Effie Herne. Vivian went to 'computer school', became a comptometress, and worked for the Atlantic Lumber Co. in Boston, where she met her future husband Robert before World War II. She was a bridesmaid at the wedding of her sister Gertrude Frederica Wright and Chesley Kasprzak on 16 June 1940 at 41 Myrtle St., Melrose, Massachusetts.

She married Robert George Madison, the son of George and Margaret (Sternberg) Madison, on 18 January 1945 at West Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, while he was on a short leave from service during the war.

Robert & Vivian lived in Buffalo, Courtland, and Glens Falls, as well as several other upstate NY towns, while Bob was a lumber buyer for his employer, the Atlantic Lumber Co. In 1961, they returned to Massachusetts, and lived in Dedham. Vivian was mentioned in the obituary of her father, Frederick Carlton Wright on 18 December 1953.

She died on 1 Nov 1968 at 223 Robert Road, Dedham, of cancer at age 48. She was buried on 4 Nov 1968 at the Gethsemany Cemetery, West Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA.

Robert and Vivian had two daughters.
