Is there a confusion of this Samuel with Samuel b. 1698 the s/o Abell Jr? The latter may have married Anna Loomis Dec. 13, 1727 in Lebanon, and Anna died 1748 in Norwich. So it would seem her husband Samuel s/o Abell Jr would have been the one who died in Norwich in 1755. There is a Samuel who died in Lebanon in 1718, and I wonder if this would be this Samuel b. 1679. If he died before his wife in 1718 he could not have fathered the above Mary, b. May 10, 1721 in Lebanon. Neither could the Samuel b. 1698 have had Mary in 1721 with wife Anna Loomis, as they didn't marry until 1727, unless he had a previous wife. Has anyone checked for any probate for either of these Samuels?
Samuel Wright (1698-1718) the s/o Ensign Abel Wright (1664-1745) & Rebecca [Terry] Wright can be located in a Find a Grave reference for Memorial # 46185032 which provides the comment "aged 20 years"; so, as other records (including the Mass. U.S. Town & Vital Records, 1620-1988) indicate, the longer surviving Samuel (there were two born to this couple; the 1st died in infancy) was born to Abel & Rebeckah (sic) Wright 2 Dec 1698. This Samuel (1679-1755) did marry twice, 1st to Mary Case with whom there were 3 children, and 2nd to Anna Loomis with whom 5 children are recorded. (See Source #1 above, specifically p. 4.)
Thanks for the update on these Samuels. I went to the photo of the tombstone in Old Cemetery in Lebanon also known as Trumbull Cemetery. I could only read "June" from the stone at the bottom. The 20 years could be the grave poster's assumption. But this does appear to be the son of Abel Jr and wife Rebecca as they and some of their children were also buried there. I just did a search for some of my Owens there who were from Miriam (Wright) Owen. It is not known that they had any Owen relatives buried there, but some of the earlier ones are missing tombstones. I found none named Owen. It is interesting that I just found a very lengthy Rev. war pension file for their son, who was claimed as born in Lebanon, "Windham County." I didn't think the latter seemed correct, and in fact I checked and Lebanon is in New London Co. Either he made the mistake or his parents Aaron and Miriam lived just over the border in Windham Co. In the Genealogy book on Abel Wright when dealing with the third generation the first ones listed change from being born in Lebanon {New London Co.} to "Windham Co." ; however the details of when they moved to Windham Co. from New London were not detailed. The first they were in Windham Co. was when #10 Ebenezer s/o Ebenezer Sr. s/o Abel Jr. was born there in 1727. By c. 1740 Ebenezer Sr. was recorded moving to Mansfield, Tolland Co; but later some of his children appear in Windham Co.
