Biography

Colby S. Wyatt, son of George Wyatt and Deliah (Nations) Wyatt, was born about 1828 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[1][2][3][4] His surname was sometimes spelled "Wiatt".

He married Amanda M Dockery on 2 January 1849 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[5]

In 1850, "Colby Wyatt", age 25, Farmer, was enumerated 14 August 1850, in Hopkins County, Kentucky, with wife Amanda (age 25) and son Pigman T Wyatt (age 10 months). He lived next door to older brother George Wyatt Jr and his family. [1]

Colby and Amanda had four sons:

  1. Pigman T. Wyatt (died young)
  2. Henry S. Wyatt
  3. George Washington Wyatt
  4. James Buchanan Wyatt

His wife Amanda died sometime prior to 2 June 1860. Colby married Rachel A Southard on that date in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[6]

In 1860, "Colby S Wiatt", age 32, Farmer, was enumerated 28 June 1860 in Hopkins County, KY, with wife Rachel, age 22, and his three sons (from 1st marriage): Henry (age 6), George (age 4) and James (age 2).[2]

By May 1867 Rachel and Colby divorced. [7]

In 1870, "C.T. Wyatt" was enumerated 14 July 1870 in Princeton, Caldwell, KY, with 3rd wife Elizabeth (age 23), their 4 month old son C J, and his three sons (from 1st marriage): Henry (age 14), George (age 12) and James (age 9). [3]

Colby died 2 January 1871 and was buried in Old Ben Carter Cemetery, Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky. [4]

Issue/items being investigated by Elida Tirey:

  • Not sure if 2nd wife Rachel and Colby had children.
  • Looking for more information regarding his third marriage. Any hints or suggestions such as Elizabeth's maiden name and marriage date would be appreciated.
