BY 1908 the family had moved to Stratford, where Wallace competed in the Stratford Sports Day, held on Stratford Park. He came second in the Boys' Race, under 14 years.

Wallace married Rachel Alicia Cooper at St Paul's Church in Murrurundi on 7 October, 1920. Wallace was a 23 year old working as a teamster; Rachel was 19 years old. Her father John James Cooper gave consent for her marriage. The officiating minister was K. S. Single. Thelma Keegan and Joseph Cooper witnessed the marriage.

After their honeymoon in "the metropolis" they traveled to their future home at Craven.

Once home, they had a celebration party with about 50 of their Craven friends in their "nice building, which is nicely situated". There was much dancing, some vocal entertainment and a supper was served about 11.30pm.

Wallace and Rachel lived in Stroud Road by 1930; Wallace was listed as a labourer in the Electoral Rolls.

In May 1930, the town of Stroud Road held the annual Empire Day Picnic. Sports events for the adults were in the afternoon; Wallace won the step 100 yards.

Sadly Rachel died in Newcastle Hospital after a short illness on 10 October 1931. She was buried at Gloucester General Cemetery.

1932 saw Wallace involved in a car accident about four miles from Dungog. He and four others were on their way to work with the mill proprietor. Wallace suffered some broken ribs, another with head injuries and were taken to Dungog Hospital.

By 1934, Wallace and his two children had moved to West Maitland, where Wallace worked as a bridge carpenter.

Wallace married Sarah Ann Bush at Mayfield Methodist Church on 19 December 1936. He was 39 years old and Sarah 24 years old. They had a daughter and son.

Wallace was still working as a bridge carpenter at the time of the 1937 - 1954 Electoral Rolls.

Wallace died in Maitland, New South Wales on 29 December 1958, a few years after suffering a cerebrovascular accident.
