Jupiter York, a free man of color, probably of mixed racial heritage, was born to unknown parents, possibly on a plantation in St. Tammany, Louisiana c.1783. He married Sophia, last name unknown, probably also a free person of color c. 1812.
In 1830 he was 47 years old and counted on the census in New Orleans with his wife and children.[1]
This confirms the common ancestors Sophia York and Jupiter York.
