Samuel was born about 1815. Samuel and Elizabeth immigrated to land in Jackson County, Tennessee that later became part of White County, Tennessee. The couple had three children as shown in the US Census Records:

Besides farming, Samuel F. Young was a Cooper and Wagon Maker. Elizabeth Ann Barks had a sister named Catherine Elizabeth Bark (1824-1925). She married Willam Coleman (1819-1925) in Cumberland County, NC on 30 March 1841. William is also a Farmer and a Cooper.
