Biography

Johann Sebastian "Bäst" Zehrung was born ca 1625 and most likely in Ritzhausen (according to the marriage). He was the son of Antonius "Tönges" Zehrung of Ritzhausen and his wife.

Marriage: He married 1647 Cordula "Körtel" Menges. The entry reads:

[1647] Eodem (= Dom.[inicus] Cantate), Bäst, Tönges Zehrung zu Rietzhausen ehlicher Sohn, und Körtel Menges, Theisen seelig nachgelassene ehliche Tochter daselbst. [1]
"On the same day (Sunday Cantate 1647 = May 16th) got married Bäst, legitimate son of Tönges Zehrung of Ritzhausen; and Körtel Menges, legitimate daughter of the late Theis, also from there."

The family lived in Ritzhausen. The following children are known:

  1. Jodocus Georgius Zehrung; born 1649 in Ritzhausen;
  2. Christofel "Stoffel" Zehrung; born 1651 in Ritzhausen
  3. Mathias "Theiß" Zehrung; born 1653 in Ritzhausen.
  4. Barbara "Barba" Zehrung; born 1655 in Ritzhausen; married 1673 Mathias "Theiß" Filger.
  5. Christian "Christ" Zehrung; born 1657 in Ritzhausen
  6. Anna Hellena "Lena" Zehrung; born 1659 in Ritzhausen; married 1695 Christman Zimmermann.
  7. Gertraut Zehrung; born 1661 in Ritzhausen; married 1683 Peter Claß.
  8. Peter Zehrung; born 1663 in Ritzhausen.
  9. Johannes Zehrung; born 1665 in Ritzhausen.

Death: "Bäst", as he was commonly called, passed away in 1709. The short entry reads: "On April 15th was burried Johann Best Zehrung of Ritzhausen." [2]

Research Notes

The date of birth was given in some account as about November 26th 1625, but without any source. And since the books of Marienberg only start at 1645, it is very unlikely that such an exact date even has any source. I therefore only go with ca. 1625 for now. A possibillity of finding the date might be to find the tax lists of the "Amt Beilstein" in the State Archives of Hesse in Wiesbaden. Gutknecht-98 06:36, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

Johann was born in 1637. [3]

Zehrung-28 and Zehrung-7 appear to represent the same person because: Same wife, same son, same parents (all of whom have to be merged as well).

Zearing-15 and Zehrung-7 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate. The father profiles were just merged - these were the sons on those two profiles, both born in the same year and with the same first name.
