Biography

Barbara “Barbary” Zimmerman, daughter of Hans Zimmerman and Elizabeth Albrecht, was born in 1718 at Spotsylvania County, Virginia. She died in 1786 (aged 67–68) at Culpeper County, Virginia, and was buried at Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery, Madison, Madison County, Virginia.

Barbara married first, 23 Aug 1737, at Orange Co., Virginia, John Leonard Zeigler (Johann Leonardt Zeigler). She married second, John Edwards who died in 1783.

Barbara's Last Will and Testament is dated 5 Apr 1786, and probated 19 Jun 1786. She mentions her daughter, Nancy Ann Zeigler Rice, and grandson, James.

On 24 Aug 1737 at Orange Co., Virginia, Barbara’s father Christopher Zimmerman deeded to Barbara Zeigler a gift of 200 acres of land for her daughter Elizabeth.

The will of Christopher Zimmerman was recorded in Orange County court on 23 Mar 1748. His beneficiaries are his wife Elizabeth, son John, daughter Barbara Zeighler, son Frederick, son Christopher, daughter Elizabeth, daughter Katherine.^[1]
