Jan, I added sources to your profile of George Day (Day-6272). Look it over and in edit you can see the style and Wiki mark up / coding I used.

Jan, uploading a GEDCOM could be a great way to proceed, especially if the GEDCOM has source citations for the folks you've already entered. During the import process, you'll have the opportunity to match GEDCOM individuals with ancestor profiles that are already present on WikiTree. There are some guidelines on page.

Jan, I'm not related to Ira Day. I just noticed that there were two profiles for him. We've got some great help pages on merging duplicate profiles. David or I can five you a hand if you need us!

Hi Jan,

Thanks for adding profiles to WikiTree. There are reasons behind the eighth point in our Honor Code: "We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information."

A source provides a way to find out more about the person. Showing sources reduces confusion and duplicates.

How Do You Find Sources? offers links to free sources (and a few for subscription). If you can't find a source, try asking about it at the G2G Forum.

The Sources Style Guide shows how to enter sources in the biography.

Please contact me with any questions you have about adding sources to the profiles you manage.

Thank you, David ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi Jan,

I proposed the merge of your two profiles for you. Amenta-17 into Amenta-15, you should get a e mail notice and will need to accept and complete the merge.

Thanks, David

Amenta-17 and Amenta-15 appear to represent the same person because: Jan Amenta Amenta-17 and Mrs. Jan Amenta Amenta-15 are the same person.

Hello Jan

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email we sent has useful links that will help you get started.

WikiTree is unique among genealogy sites in that our goal is to have One Profile per person. We are growing a shared global tree in which we collaborate as a team of researchers.

After you have confirmed your e-mail address, you may wish to add YOUR family branches by becoming a Volunteer. If so, indicate your genealogy interests by filling in TAGs for surnames you want to research, like GARCIA or a location, like SWEDEN. Include a comment on why each TAG is meaningful to you. Make sure to click the "Enter Tag(s) and Volunteer" button and a Greeter will follow-up in confirming your membership.

Thank you for visiting WikiTree. --Rod

You asked about DNA tests. I hope this page answers your question: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/DNA_Tests

In short, if you know a living Day man, get him to do a yDNA37 marker test. If not, you can do an autosomal/FamilyFinder test.

You might want to set your Privacy to Private with Public Family Tree. The WikiTree programming needs to see your Family Tree tab to make DNA and other cousin connections for you. Please take a look at my profile http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cooper-1 where I use Private with Public Biography AND Family Tree to see a list of some of my WikiTree cousin connections and my list of U.S. Presidential cousins.
